On 3 September Minsk marked its 949th anniversary since the date it was first mentioned in The Tale of Bygone Years in 1067. The City Day celebrations were held in every corner of the Belarusian capital. The event was traditionally opened with a flower ceremony at the Minsk Hero City Memorial.
The main venue for the Minsk City Day celebrations was the area near the Sport Palace that featured numerous sport, cultural and trading events. The Power Show, one of the novelties, was organized by the Minsk Department of the Emergencies Ministry.
The program also featured creative collectives and performers of Belarus, the Town of Craftsmen, PROMinsk open air (performance of cover bands), the international power extreme tournament Minsk Open Cup 2016, and many more...
