Having lost the first set 8-11, Vladimir Samsonov called a medical timeout during the second set and made his fans worry. Still the Belarusian returned to the court to tie it 1-1 on sets, before launching an incredible comeback to win 8-11, 11-7, 19-17, 4-11, 11-2, 14-12. Vladimir Samsonov advanced to the men’s singles semifinals for the first time while playing at his sixth Olympic Games.
