The 2016 ICF Junior & U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships gathered best athletes from 67 countries in Belarus. Speaking at the opening ceremony at Minsk Arena’s velodrome, First Vice President of the International Canoe Federation (ICF) Istvan Vaskuti expressed hope that many of the current junior athletes will make part of the 2020 Summer Olympic Games. The competitions on the hot eventful days from 28 to 31 July in Zaslavl became a great opportunity for young stars to make first steps into the world of big rowing sport.

Belarus was presented by 47 athletes. The Belarusian national team claimed 14 medals (seven gold, five silver and two bronze medals). Canoeists Yelena Nozdreva and Nadezhda Makarchenko brought four gold medals to Belarus.
