9 Jul 2016

The beautiful Kupala Night tradition of making ‘fortune-telling’ wreaths from summer flowers and casting them onto the water was one of the brightest events of this year’s national festival of poetry, songs and folk crafts in Vyazynka. The festival was founded more than 40 years ago. Vyazynka is the birthplace of one of the most famous Belarusian poets and writers Yanka Kupala who was born on Kupala Night. This is where his pen name stems from.

Flower Ethno Festival at Yanka Kupala’s was held as part of the national festival for the fourth time. The program of the festival also included the competition for the best flower crown Kupala Beauty and a children’s floristry competition. The participants to the festivities made a giant flower wreath and cast in onto the water accompanying the process with songs, poems and circle dances.
