Polad Bulbuloglu's ballet Love and Death premieres in Bolshoi Theater of Belarus

Marvelous music, beautiful and touching oriental story based on the ancient specimen of literature and, of course, breathtaking choreography... At the close of the season 2015/16, Belarus’ main theater offered its visitors not only the already popular project Ballet Summer in Bolshoi but also a big premiere – The Love and Death ballet by Azerbaijani maestro Polad Bulbuloglu.

The production which debuted in Minsk on 11 and 12 June was staged by young choreographer Olga Kostel. Jointly with the international art team from Belarus and Azerbaijan, she choreographed a third version of the ballet: the first one was staged in Baku, the second – in Russia’s Yekaterinburg. The Belarusian story presents an absolutely new, original interpretation of Polad Bulbuloglu’s music. The Maestro was personally involved in all stages of the ballet production: assessed the scenography and sketches of future costumes, gave tips on the musical score.

Therefore, the author could not miss the premiere and was among the audience on the night of the first performance. The show was virtually flawless, except for the excitement of the debut.
