2016 FIG World Cup in Rhythmic Gymnastics in Minsk

The 2016 FIG World Cup in Rhythmic Gymnastics in Minsk, which was held for the first time in the sport and entertainment complex Falcon Club, brought together 33 athletes from 22 countries. Partaking in the event were 6 teams and 11 gymnasts, who had already won the 2016 Rio Olympics berths.

On 20-22 May the world’s best gymnasts competed for the medals of the Olympic disciplines in Individual and Group All-Around programs. By tradition, the Crystal Rose junior international tournament was held as part of the program. The sports event concluded with the fabulous World Gymnastics Stars Show.

The Belarusian team won 7 medals (2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze) at the home World Cup. According to the head coach of the national rhythmic gymnastics team Irina Leparskaya, the gymnasts did well and showed high results and a good physical shape in the run-up to the European Championships in Israel’s Holon and the 2016 Rio Olympics.

In the group events the Belarusian team comprising Ksenia Cheldyshkina, Anna Dudenkova, Maria Kadobina, Maria Kotyak, Valeria Pishchelina and Arina Tsitsilina won 2 gold and 1 silver medals.

Four more medals were claimed by the leader of the Belarusian national rhythmic gymnastics team Melitina Staniouta who performed successfully in four events of the program (hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon) and became a bronze winner in the Individual All-Around.
