Not long ago, Belarus national women’s indoor hockey team was not considered a stable strong player in top-level tournaments. However, the situation has changed dramatically in the recent years. The Belarusian national team won two European silver medals (2008, 2012). At the championships in Prague in 2014 Belarus finished 6th. With Dutch Herman Kreis behind the bench, the team improved its world rankings significantly and was considered among the favorites ahead of the EuroHockey Indoor Championships in Minsk. As a result, Belarus finished third.
Belarus also won the right to play at the 2018 Women’s Hockey World Cup in Argentina. This summer the team will start training on grass to complete for the Olympic berth.
