EuroHockey Indoor Championships (women) in Minsk

Indoor hockey has not become a popular and mass sport in Belarus yet. It still looks somewhat exotic, especially on the back of the well-liked ice hockey. However, with the successes of the national women’s team this spectacular sport played with a ball and short sticks starts winning the hearts of fans. The games of the EuroHockey Indoor Championships, which took place in Minsk on 22-24 January, testify to the fact.

The Belarusian capital welcomed eight best teams of Europe for the continental tournament. At the Minsk Sport Arena the athletes competed for the medals and also for spots at the 2018 Women’s Hockey World Cup in Rosario, Argentina. The winners and medalists were named after three days of beautiful and sometimes dangerous competitions. The Netherlands claimed the European champion title, with Poland and Belarus clinching silver and bronze medals respectively.
