The construction of the Palace of the Republic in Minsk’s central square – Oktyabrskaya Square – began in 1985. It was a unique facility in many ways: the construction process utilized state-of-the-art technologies and R&D products that had not been used in the country before. The palace was entirely ready by 31 December 2001: the building sized 100x100m towers 45m above the square and goes as deep as 20m below the surface.
Today’s Palace of the Republic is a major cultural and business center, the place where many important public, political and international events take place. The palace hosts concerts and performances, sees a lot of glorious music bands and performers from Belarus and other countries.
