In early May the 31st European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships brought together more than 600 athletes from 37 countries at Minsk Arena, one of Europe’s biggest sport grounds. The tournament featured seven medal events, including five senior and two junior medal events.
In the senior team competitions Russia won gold with 150.173 points. Silver and bronze medals went to Belarus (144.556) and Ukraine (139.798).
Russia led in the junior team competitions (33.266 points), going ahead of Belarus (silver) and Israel (bronze). Belarusian juniors made triumph in Five Balls routine collecting the highest 16.733 points to leave behind Russia and Bulgaria.
Leader of the Belarusian national team Melitina Staniouta clinched five (two silver and three bronze) medals at the 2015 European Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships. Another talented Belarusian athlete Yekaterina Galkina brought Belarus one silver and two bronze medals.
The championship wrapped up with the Show of World Rhythmic Gymnastics Stars with the participation of the world’s best athletes.
