"Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk speaks the language of peace and harmony,” permanent hostess of the festival Elena Spiridovich said opening the ceremony. She became the winner of the Belarusian president's special award “Through Art - to Peace and Mutual Understanding” and the start with her name was unveiled on the Walk of Fame next to the Summer Amphitheater.
The ceremony was themed around The Path to Peace. Given the current geopolitical situation, this theme is very important. But the festival has always highlighted that art is outside politics and that it unites the peoples of different countries. This is also highlighted in the motto of the festival: "Through art - to peace and mutual understanding."
The artists presented Vitebsk audiences with "All the Flowers of July" and wished peace and happiness. Many confessed their love to the city and the festival. The grateful audiences did not spare applause in response.
The city will be living in the rhythm of the festival until next week. The 32nd edition of the International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk will be running until 17 July. The official closing ceremony is scheduled for 16 July.
