Kamenets Tower, a specimen of 13th century architecture

Kamenets Tower in the town of Kamenets, Brest Oblast, is a unique specimen of defensive architecture of the second half of the 13th century. It refers to the Volyn type of towers and shares some features with donjon towers that were widespread in Western Europe in the 12th-13th centuries. The tower in Kamenets was built for defensive purposes and therefore lacks architectural and decorative elements. Kamenets Tower is on the list of historical and cultural heritage of Belarus and is under state protection. Now it houses a branch of the Brest Regional History Museum.
