Maslenitsa in Mogilev District

This year, Maslenitsa week is marked on 8-14 March. Every day of this week has its traditional rituals and treats, but pancakes have always been the main dish on the festive table. They symbolize the sun because they are as round, hot, and bright. People believed that if a spring is sunny, then the harvest will be rich, tables will be full, and families will be happy. Members of local art groups come together in the agrotown of Polykovichi in Mogilev District every year to celebrate Maslenitsa upholding all old traditions.
