CIS mission shares impressions of early voting for Belarus’ parliamentary elections
15 Nov 2019

Long-term observers from eight CIS participating states are monitoring the elections in Belarus. All in all, the CIS mission includes 475 observers deployed all over the country. For example, Sergei Lebedev has visited the polling stations located in Secondary School No. 1 in Fanipol. “After talking to members of the precinct election commissions, observers and voters, we have got a positive impression of the course of early voting,” he said answering a question of reporters.

Sergei Lebedev noted that a great number of information materials about candidates were available at the polling stations. Observers also have unobstructed access to these materials. “We have not heard a single complaint about the work of election commissions” he added.

The mission head expressed hope that the electoral process will proceed in the same spirit. He called the elections in Belarus competitive and wished that the best of the candidates will make it to the new parliament.
