ISU European Figure Skating Championships 2019 in Minsk: athletes’ arrival, first impressions, practice sessions

Minsk hosts the ISU European Figure Skating Championships for the first time. On 23 January, more than 100 Europe’s best athletes will start competing for medals of the 111th ISU European Championships. The tournament has gathered together a lot of renowned skaters. Among them are Pyeongchang Olympic champion Alina Zagitova, bronze medal winner Javier Fernandez of Spain and French pair Guillaume Cizeron and Gabriella Papadakis.

23 January will see the opening ceremony and the first competition programs: short program of ladies’ singles and ice dance. Belarus will be represented by Yakau Zenko in the men's singles, and Anna Kublikova and Yuri Gulitsky in ice dance who are trained by famous athlete and coach Alexander Zhulin.

But now the famous guests and their teams (500 people in total) are arriving at Minsk National Airport sharing their first impressions with the media. The athletes are also busy with official practice sessions at Minsk Arena which are open to the public.
