New Year Children’s Charity Campaign in Belarus

New Year’s Eve and Christmas is the most magical time for all children and adults, time to do good, share the warmth, and help those less fortunate enjoy the holidays. These eternal values are highlighted by the Our Children charity marathon which is traditionally held during the holiday season. Heads of government agencies and company chiefs, leaders of public associations,business people and bankers, artists and people who care join in to bring joy to children and wish them a Happy New Year.

Over 15,000 children, hundreds of events, more than 90 companies and organizations – such is the scale of the Our Children campaign which kicked off on 10 December and which will wrap up on 11 January 2019. The campaign features New Year events and school plays, concerts and theater shows, carnivals and discos for children in difficult situations, kids from children's homes, large, foster and adoptive families, disabled children. Of course, every time there are guests and presents.

The central event of the marathon was the New Year party at the Palace of the Republic on behalf of the Belarus president. The event brought together over 2,000 children from all the Belarusian regions. Alexander Lukashenko greeted the children and said that nothing is more important for him than peaceful and happy childhood of Belarusians. The head of state remarked that adults have many reasons to be proud of the younger generation of Belarusians. He highlighted the successful participation of Belarusians in various international contests, competitions, Olympiads. The head of state wished the children a joyful holiday season and a Happy New Year.
