Although it is still three months before winter sets in, Raubichi is already hosting training camps and biathlon competitions. Belarusian athletes were expected to show high speed, accurate shooting and well-coordinated teamwork at Belarus’ Open Summer Biathlon Championships that kicked off at the Raubichi Olympic Center on 26 September.
The competitions kicked off with sprint events. Belarus’ Viktor Krivko captured gold in the Men’s 10K Sprint with two penalties. Timofei Lapshin, representing South Korea, came in second. Vladimir Chepelin of Belarus took bronze. In the women’s sprint Darya Yurkevich of Belarus finished second, almost one minute behind Anna Frolina of South Korea. Third was Belarus’ Anna Sola. The competitions continued with the junior pursuit events and culminated in spectacular mass starts on 29 September.
