Lukashenko lays flowers at the monument to independence and humanism

The monument to independence and humanism was erected in Tashkent in the early 1990s instead of the monument to Vladimir Lenin. The new monument is a metal sphere embellished with ornamental design and bearing an image of Uzbekistan’s map. The square was reconstructed in 2005. A sculpture of a happy mother with a baby on her hands was added to the monument. The woman symbolizes the country while the baby symbolizes the future.
