The State Literary and Memorial Museum of Yakub Kolas opened its doors for first visitors 65 years ago, on 4 December 1959. The museum is housed in the building where Yakub Kolas, the People's Poet of Belarus, lived with his family and worked since the end of 1944. The two-storied house and the adjoining garden with the trees planted by the poet are located on the grounds of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The museum has over 31,000 items in its holdings. These are personal effects, books, manuscripts, documents,and artworks.
