The 2nd European Games will feature two cycling events. Athletes will compete in road cycling (the route will go along Minsk’s major landmarks) and track cycling at Minsk Arena.
The Minsk Grand Prix was a test track cycling tournament held in the run-up to the 2nd European Games. Taking part in the competitions were 250 athletes from 16 countries. The Belarusian athletes won six medals on the first day of the competitions.
Ina Savenka won the women’s 3km individual pursuit. Tatsiana Sharakova finished third in the event. Representatives of the Minsk cycling club Yauhen Veramchuk, Uladzislau Novik, Artsiom Zaitsau came in second in the men’s team sprint. Diana Medvedskaya and Yulia Manets collected bronze in the women’s team sprint. Belarusian cyclists won gold and silver medals in the junior team sprint.
