The ancient folk rite Gukanne Vyasny (Spring is Calling) has survived till present days in different regions of Belarus. Thanks to its unique colors, the festival draws more and more ethnic culture lovers to ethnography museums every new spring. On Saturday, 18 March, the festival was held in the Belarusian State Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Lifestyle in Strochitsy. This year the festival showed the best traditions and also recreated a special local spring calling rite celebrated only in Lelchytsy District, Gomel Oblast. The participants of the original rite weaved wove a large wreath, made tiny birds, enjoyed folk music, traditional games, and, finally, a spectacular fire show.
