The eleventh edition of the international youth theater forum М@rt.contact opened in the Belarusian city of Mogilev on 21 March.
Critics say that the project, which crossed the ten-year mark not so long ago, has already garnered an impressive reputation and occupied a special place in the European theatrical calendar. Since its establishment, more than 140 productions from different countries have been presented to the total audience of 50,000.
In the run-up to the World Theater Day, the youth theater forum brought together young theater directors, actors, and critics from nine countries, including Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland, Armenia, Moldova, Bulgaria, and Germany. The recently premiered existential drama The Lower Depths directed by Igor Kazakov from the Mogilev Oblast Puppet Theater was the main discovery of the festival. The program of the forum featured 20 productions of different genres, from musicals to contemporary ballet, conferences, acting workshops, and discussions with the participation of renowned Belarusian and foreign theater critics.
