Vladimir Korotkevich described it as "an emerald town", tourist guides mention it as "Belarusian Suzdal". For Belarus the town is special indeed. It is difficult to find a similar place with the same number of monuments and styles of different epochs. Centuries-old Mstislavl, which has already celebrated its 880th anniversary in 2015, still amazes tourists with its architecture, new archaeological artifacts and cultural events.
In September, the town not only celebrated its birthday, but also played host to the Dazhynki 2016 Regional Harvest Festival. A number of tourist attractions were reopened after renovations, namely the Castle Hill museum with the wooden architecture of the 12th-14th centuries and the magnificent Holy Trinity Church built in 1834 in the former Market Square. A new firefighting museum has opened its doors for visitors. It is located in one of the tallest buildings in the town – the fire observation tower built in 1935. The Mstislavl Knights Fest gathered its fans for fascinating tournaments, equestrian shows, an archery competition, and a spectacular night assault on the castle…
