Belarus parliament elections

MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – This year’s parliamentary campaign has become one of the best elections held in the country, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina said in an interview to the Belarus One TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“I think the campaign was satisfactory. Moreover, it has become one of the best election campaigns ever held in the country. First of all, it was the liveliest of all. Secondly, it featured a shift from a budgetary to a commercial event,” said Lidia Yermoshina.

This year’s campaign has attracted the biggest number of voters, the CEC head noted. In her words, voters usually have little interest in parliamentary elections. This time, however, the Central Election Commission received letters even from Belarusian citizens who wished to cast their vote in the countries where there were no polling stations.

“I am happy to note that these elections were very positive,” Lidia Yermoshina added.
