MINSK, 16 September (BelTA) – Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina told media on 16 September that she viewed openness of the local authorities to candidates’ campaign activity as a major achievement of the 2016 parliamentary elections, BelTA has learned.
“The key achievement is that our local authorities start learning to provide opportunities for running events related to the election campaign,” Lidia Yermoshina said.
She also took note of an increased number of candidates, including party members, as another positive change. As a result, voters were given an alternative. Moreover, the election campaign is getting more open.
