MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – The observer mission sent by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization believes that the elections in Belarus were exemplary, BelTA learned from Rashid Alimov, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), head of the SCO observer mission during the parliamentary elections in Belarus.
Rashid Alimov said: “What we saw can be undoubtedly described as an exemplary campaign to elect members of the parliament.” He wished active work to the new parliamentarians.
In turn, SCO observer Mikhail Bortnik added that Belarus had demonstrated a professional approach to organizing the elections. He also drew attention to the high civic engagement of Belarusians and their apparent responsibility for the future of their country. “This is what I’ve been able to notice while talking to the voters,” he added.
SCO observer Feng Liahao mentioned the good-natured atmosphere during the elections. People would come to the polling stations as families, including the elderly. “The entire organizational work was smoothly done,” she stated.
