MINSK, 5 December (BelTA) – The new parliament will work in a difficult period, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed members of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the sixth and seventh convocations on 5 December, BelTA has learned.
According to the head of state, the task of the new parliament is to build on the existing economic policy, ensure sustainable development of the Belarusian state, economic growth and improvement of living standards of people.
“There will be difficult times ahead. The struggle of the superpowers for spheres of influence, aggressive efforts of nations to promote their economic interests (this also shows in the relationship with our elderly brother), trade wars and barriers – this is the reality that makes our life harder,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
On the other hand, this is a driver of growth, as it prompts us to look for new reserves for economic growth, the president noted. “It is time to build an economic system that depends very little on the market of hydrocarbons and other commodities. We have already started moving in this direction when we established the Hi-Tech Park and embarked on other projects,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
