Belarus parliament elections

VITEBSK, 6 July (BelTA) - Serious politicians, who intend to stand in the elections to the House of Representatives, will choose to be nominated through the collection of signatures, Secretary of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Nikolai Lozovik told media in Vitebsk on 6 July, BelTA has learned.

“According to the law, a candidate can be nominated by a labor collective, a political party and through the collection of signatures. Serious politicians, who intend to stand in the elections, will definitely choose to be nominated through the collection of signatures. Candidates have an opportunity to meet with voters, hear their opinions and, thus, improve chances of being elected. Serious contenders will be fully engaged in signature collection in order to get voters familiar with their programs and get the direct feedback,” Nikolai Lozovik stressed.

Vitebsk hosted a training seminar for chairpersons and members of the territorial and district election commissions. Nikolai Lozovik drew the attention of colleagues to innovations and special aspects of the election campaign, distributed the manuals and practical guides.

Elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus are scheduled for 11 September.
