MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) – The powers of international observers at the parliamentary election in Belarus will be expanded, CEC Secretary Nikolai Lozovik said at the session of the Central Election commission (CEC) on 8 June, BelTA has learned.
Nikolai Lozovik explained that the term of powers of foreign observers is calculated from the day of their accreditation and ends on the day the Central Election Commission announces the election results. The provision, which was considered at the meeting today, regulates the powers of international observers. “The powers will be slightly expanded during this year’s parliamentary election as compared to the last one,” he said.
For example, on the proposal of the OSCE/ODIHR, international observers have been granted the right to access the information on the number of voters included in the voters’ lists and on the number of voters who participated in voting during early voting and on election day. In addition, foreign observers will be able to see the process as district election commissions accept the documents from precinct election commissions.
The CEC will issue the observers certificates confirming their authority.
