VITEBSK, 25 July (BelTA) – As many as 75 observers have been accredited with the election commissions of Vitebsk Oblast to monitor the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the sixth convocation, BelTA learned from the Vitebsk Oblast election commission.
As of 25 July 2016, six of the accredited observers were registered with the territorial commission and the remaining 69 with district election commissions. An overwhelming majority of them – 70 people – represent pubic associations, such as the BRSM Youth Union, the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, the Belaya Rus association, the Belarusian Public Association of Veterans, the Belarusian Women’s Union and others. As for political parties, only two representatives of the Communist Party of Belarus have been accredited so far. Another three observers have been nominated through the collection of signatures.
The elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the sixth convocation are scheduled for 11 September.
