MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) – The vote count during elections should be made more transparent, Chairman of the national public association Belaya Rus Alexander Radkov said at the wider-format meeting of the Belaya Rus Council, BelTA has learned.
“We will surely exercise the right assigned to public associations by the resolution of the Central Election Commission to attend the meetings of the representative and executive bodies to establish election commissions. Law enforcement practices of the election legislation can be further improved depending on the maturity level and responsibility of public institutes. Belaya Rus will also introduce its proposals after this year’s campaign. We also believe that a person who wants to be elected to the parliament should have the right to open a bank account once the initiative group is registered. Restrictions on venues for campaign events should be reduced. The vote count procedure should be made more transparent,” the head of Belaya Rus said.
“We are ready to implement the innovations suggested by the OSCE regarding the membership of the commissions,” said Alexander Radkov. Belaya Rus believes that a member of a district election commission must reside within the district, have an impeccable reputation, a good level of education, which will enable him to understand the nuances of the electoral legislation. He should speak a foreign language, be communicative and be able to work in a team,” he noted.
The organization will start nominating its candidates to the House of Representatives on 3 July. Candidates who will stand in the election to the lower house must be experienced people who will be able to make decisions on how to fight economic woes,” Alexander Radkov said. Today 67 members of the House of Representatives are members of Belaya Rus.
