MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – No complaints of serious election violations have been submitted, CEC head Lidia Yermoshina told the media, BelTA has learned.
“If we talk about the complaints that are submitted to the Central Election Commission, I can say that the number is small. No complaints about violations that could affect the outcome of the election have been filed,” Lidia Yermoshina noted.
The phone calls from citizens are mostly related to the fact that they have not received an invitation to come to the polls or were not included in the ballot papers. “We did inquiries into these matters. These people were suggested to be included into supplementary lists but not all of them agreed to that. Some left the polling stations and complained to the CEC,” Lidia Yermoshina noted.
The CEC head noted that she was satisfied with the course of the election campaign as of 18.00. “So far the elections have been smooth and orderly. All the hints implying that the citizens are intimidated and are not free to make their own choice just do not stand up to scrutiny,” Lidia Yermoshina said.
