VITEBSK, 10 July (BelTA) - A star with Taisia Povaliy’s name has been unveiled in the square near the Summer Amphitheater in Vitebsk, BelTA has learned.
The famous singer, winner of the first Grand Prix of Vitebsk Song Contest has been honored with the Belarus president’s award “Through Art to Peace and Understanding”. Taisia Povaliy has become the 15th artist whose name has been inscribed in the Vitebsk square.
The artist will be awarded the special award of the Belarusian president at a ceremony during the evening concert at the Summer Amphitheater. The singer will take part in the opening concert.
An alley to honor the winners of the Belarus president’s award “Through Art to Peace and Understanding” was unveiled in Vitebsk in 2009. The Walk of Fame was founded in 2009 near the Summer Amphitheater. The ‘star’ is a square polished granite with the name of the artist and the symbol of festival - a cornflower. In 2016 the Walk of Fame was transformed into the Square of Stars, now the Square of Award Winners.
This year’s Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk is held on 8-17 July. The opening ceremony and gala concert will take place in the Summer Amphitheater on 11 July. The closing ceremony will take place on 15 July. Additional events have been scheduled for 8-10 July and 16-17 July.
