Lukashenko: We can breathe freedom today thanks to feat of fathers and grandfathers

MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – It is thanks to the feat of our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers that we can breathe freedom, raise children and enjoy every new day, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the event on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the Great Victory in Minsk on 9 May, BelTA learned.

The head of state wished Happy Victory Day to veterans, compatriots, foreign guests.

“The Belarusian nation has been living and working under the peaceful sky for the eighth decade. It is thanks to the feat of our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers that we can breathe freedom, raise children and enjoy every new day. Today we honor the courage of the soldiers, the heroism of the partisans and underground movement members, the titanic efforts of homefront  workers,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
