MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) – It is important to keep our guard up during the election campaign in the country, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting to discuss the 2025 election campaign in Minsk on 5 November, BelTA has learned.
"Provocations (both information, political and others) are possible. They are always possible. Just don't let the guard down. Some say that the most opposition-minded fled. There are different people in the society. It is important to keep the guard up. This is especially true for the local authorities. We must proceed from the worst option. We will be happy if things turn out better," the head of state said.
He assured that the heads of the regions will be briefed about the situation, any dangerous trends should they emerge.
Speaking about attempts to destabilize the situation in Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that some say "they are preparing for 2030 and will skip next year..." It is clear that they can say one thing and do another," the head of state said. “They are already working out plans on how to act. The tensions are mainly whipped up from abroad. They can't figure out what tactics to apply here. I think they will get help. There are a lot of smart people around. They will give money for this."
"But we must understand that the time to use media to rock the boat is over . They understand this. Therefore, they are ready for radical actions. This means that we must be ready to take adequate actions in response," the Belarusian leader added.
