KLIMOVICHI, 16 November (BelTA) - The program for the development of the south-eastern region of Mogilev Oblast will be updated, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he honored farmers during the regional Dazhynki 2024 harvest festival in the town of Klimovichi on 16 November, BelTA has learned.
The president stressed that the state will always lend a shoulder to hard workers: "If I see that we et a good return and profit in this or that area, I guarantee you all kinds of support, including financial one."
A program for the development of the south-eastern region of Mogilev Oblast has been in progress since 2015. About Br2 billion has already been invested, and a lot has been done with this money.
Cement plants have been modernized. They switched to local fuels. A cement bonded particle board plant was built in Krichev District. Slavgorod District implemented an innovative confectionery project and built a pig breeding complex for 24,000 head. The region’s largest pig breeding farm for 3,600 sows was put into operation in Klimovichi District.
"This program will be continued, but in an updated form. It will become a strategic document and will contain not only preferences, which are needed. It is important to identify new projects, primarily in the manufacturing industry. We need to create jobs and to retain people here, in their native land," the president outlined the priorities.
“Over the winter, we will also decide on tactics. I will not say strategy, but tactics in agriculture. Perhaps we will reinforce our technical teams which we have in Mogilev Oblast and which proved effective. The main task is to further reduce the disparity in the social and economic development of territories. Strong regions make a strong country! This is our way forward. This is no longer a tactic. This is a strategy," the Belarusian leader stressed.
