MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova to receive her report, BelTA has learned.
The president outlined three sets of issues. They relate to the situation in Minsk, as Natallya Kochanova is also the president’s authorized representative in the city of Minsk. The second set of questions is about the work by the new Council of the Republic. The third one is international contacts through the Council of the Republic.
"Natalya Ivanovna, first of all I would like to discuss the state of affairs in Minsk. As you are the authorized representative in Minsk, I would like you to report on the situation. Especially on the issues on which we have decided. Especially in terms of economy. How is the situation at MotoVeloZavod? What is the state of affairs with the sales of individual buildings, premises... You know what I'm talking about. Well, how did the new members of the upper house of Parliament settle in? And let’s also touch on the international contacts and other issues that you consider necessary to discuss," the Belarusian leader said.
Natalya Kochanova, in turn, noted that the new Council of the Republic has already held four meetings. "We have passed 31 bills. We are actively working now, in the intersessional period. The new members got down to work quite actively; we work to address people’s concerns. We are considering the bills that were submitted to us by the expert council. Work is being carried out actively in all areas," she said.
