Lukashenko goes to firewood chopping championship for reporters

MINSK, 7 November (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived at the site where a firewood chopping championship for reporters will take place, BelTA has learned.

It is the third championship on record. The venue has not changed: a picturesque bank of the Vyacha River in Minsk District.

The teams will have to participate in several events: firewood chopping, log chopping, firewood chopping the presidential way. In addition to traditional events participants can look forward to new types of competitions. Men, who demonstrate the best results, will be able to participate in an interesting and dynamic contest “With one stroke!”. Women will also be able to participate in an unusual contest: they will have to split wood using wedges and a frying pan.

Spectators will also be able to participate in the events. For instance, they will be able to participate in moving firewood loaded on sleds and in the assembling of wooden figures.

The organizers have put aside about 30m3 of firewood timber for the championship this year. According to the established tradition, the firewood that participants of the championship will make will be handed over to those, who can use it for heating purposes during winter.
