MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) – The United States European Command donated a blood gas analyzer to the 432nd Order of the Red Star Main Military Medical Center of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus as part of the coronavirus response efforts, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry.
The official handover ceremony took place in the Central House of Officers in Minsk on 5 January. The Belarusian delegation was led by Head of the Military-Medical Department of the Defense Ministry Dmitry Alkhovik and the U.S. delegation – by Defense Attaché of the U.S. Embassy in Minsk - Lieutenant Colonel Jason L. Tucker.
The equipment measures the changes in blood gas concentration and helps make prompt decisions about patients’ treatment. A blood gas analyzer is especially important in establishing a diagnosis and choosing treatment for coronavirus patients displaying moderate and severe symptoms.
“The Belarusian Defense Ministry would like to thank the United States European Command and the U.S. Embassy in Belarus for their assistance,” the ministry noted.
