Talai: Tens of tonnes of cargo sent from Belarus to Donbass for the past few years

MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) - Tens of tonnes of cargo have been sent from Belarus to Donbass for the past few years, the public figure, Paralympian and motivational coach Aleksei Talai told reporters, BelTA has learned.

"It is difficult to overestimate the assistance of Belarusians to Donbass. First of all, this is a good sign that the Belarusian people are there for them, that we are together. Tens of tonnes of cargo have been sent there over the past few years. Those were the most necessary things for survival, something to feed the newborns,” Aleksei Talai said. “The Belarusian people could not stand aside. The president and people understand that these are not just our cousins. They are our people. We are one people. People have responded to this project to help children of Donbass. Our charitable foundation receives inquiries every day about how to help. We have received a lot of help from the Belarusian Women's Union and other organizations which, having the opportunity, responded, collected tens of tonnes of humanitarian aid for Donbass."

Raising funds for charitable assistance is an important part of the work of the primary organization of the Belarusian Women's Union in the House of Representatives. Helping children affected by hostilities is of special importance.

The funds raised by the members of the primary organization were used to purchase personal hygiene items, diapers and baby food and were handed over to the Aleksei Talai Foundation for further transportation and distribution.

"Thousands of Donbass children have already holidayed in our best children's camps. This project will continue. We are developing it within the framework of the Union State. We invite individuals, sponsors, ordinary people. It is really important to give children of Donbass weeks of a well-fed and peaceful life, new perspectives, new friends and a good charge of hope. We are doing everything possible for this," Aleksei Talai noted. “Many children improved their health in the best rehabilitation centers in Belarus. Belarusian surgeons operated on children wounded in mine explosions, shelling by the Ukrainian junta. We provide assistance and support to children with disabilities. Some children, for example, with severe cerebral palsy, have already taken their first steps. And we are very happy for them."
