Project name: Motherhood School

Implementation period: Two years

Applicant: Kindergarten No. 6, town of Mosty, Grodno Oblast, Belarus

Project goals: To ensure physical and psychological well-being of mothers during prenatal and post-natal periods, and to help with the harmonious development of children aged 0-6.

Project tasks:
1) to create a safe comfortable educational space for women during prenatal and post-natal periods;
2) to equip a safe educational space for pregnant women and mothers with babies, to organize various educational and game activities for young children;
3) to organize medical, psychological and pedagogical interaction with women during prenatal and post-of periods;
4) to provide comprehensive support to young parents as they prepare to welcome a baby and assist them in understanding the needs of the children aged 0-3;
5) to raise the level of psychological and pedagogical awareness of young parents;
6) to help with adaptation of a two and three-year-olds to a pre-school;
7) to minimize risks associated with the birth of children with special needs;
8) to support families raising a special-needs child

Target group: Pregnant women, fathers, young mothers (from 16 to 45)
of the town of Mosty, Mosty District, children aged 0-3, teachers of Kindergarten No. 6 in the town of Mosty (educational psychologists, preschool teachers, social teachers, PT teachers), doctors (gynaecologists, pediatricians)

Brief description:
- setting up a safe room for classes on relieving emotional stress and anxiety in pregnant women, new mothers, dads, and for teaching self-regulation techniques;
- acquisition and installation of computer and music equipment (to print information for project participants, to make specialists’ presentations and musical pieces during relaxation classes/auto-trainings for pregnant women, young mothers and fathers with children aged 0-3);
- purchasing sensory gaming equipment for the development of emotional and physical skills, qualities of children aged 0-3, for training sessions of young parents;
- organizing classes involving specialists of Kindergarten No. 6 (educational psychologist, PT specialist, music teacher, preschool teacher), specialists from the Mosty district hospital (gynecologist, pediatrician, psychologist);
- presentations of the project results;
- professional development of maternity specialists in the Republic of Belarus.
