Overview of humanitarian activities in 2019

In 2019 Belarus maintained positive dynamics of humanitarian cooperation with foreign countries.

As part of this cooperation, the Republic of Belarus received $83.18 million in foreign grants for various joint humanitarian projects, including $54.65 million in cash, and $28.53 million in the form of goods. The increase was 21% over 2018.

In 2019 foreign donations were spent on:

  • healthcare, social support for low-income citizens, disabled, pensioners, children, refugees - $30.48 million;
  • projects in environmental protection and energy conservation, construction, repair (reconstruction) of social facilities, strengthening physical infrastructure of government institutions - $30.46 million;
  • physical culture and sports - $12.44 million;
  • improvement of physical infrastructure of commercial, public and religious organizations - $9.8 million.

In 2019, Belarus cooperated with 60 countries in humanitarian affairs.

Major donor-countries over the period under review: USA - $23.47 million, Switzerland - $12.37 million, Russia - $10.69 million, Germany - $10.24 million, China - $8.94 million.

In 2019, an estimated 12,270 children went on recuperative holidays to 12 countries thanks to foreign grant assistance.

The majority of Belarusian children were welcomed by the following countries: Italy – 7,400 children, Germany – 2,070 children,  Spain – 770 children.
