Belarusian Women's Union donates charitable assistance for children of Donbass

Belarusian Women's Union donates charitable assistance for children of Donbass

MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) - Deputies of the House of Representatives - members of the Belarusian Women's Union handed over charitable assistance for children of Donbass on 31 July, BelTA has learned.

Raising funds for charitable assistance is an important part of the work of the primary organization of the Belarusian Women's Union in the House of Representatives. Helping children affected by hostilities is of special importance.

The funds raised by the members of the primary organization were used to purchase personal hygiene items, diapers and baby food and were handed over to the Aleksei Talai Foundation for further transportation and distribution.

“Children’s suffering is the greatest injustice. Children's and women's tears have been shed in Donbass for nine years. They have a whole alley of angels in donbass," MP Marina Lenchevskaya noted. “The situation there is very serious. There is a lack of basic things: personal hygiene products, diapers, baby food. Belarusian women have a very big heart. We can tell a lot about it. And we believe it is time to act. We are there for children of Donbass and we have extended them our helping hand. Today, when the policy of double standards, cynicism and indifference has prevailed in the West, we want to change this rhetoric and tell the whole world: Belarusians will never leave those who need help."

"We want to express our gratitude to Aleksei Talai for his good deeds, for the real help to residents of Donbass, to people with disabilities, for the preservation of historical memory. He has done a huge job. Women of the House of Representatives want to contribute to these good deeds," MP Irina Lukanskaya said. “We are extremely outraged by the fact that the European Parliament passes certain reports where white is called black. By helping children of Donbass, we give them a piece of childhood, sunshine and light. Yet they accuse us of the fact that children of Donbass travel to the Republic of Belarus illegally. It's not fair. I talked to these children. They just want to take a break, to sleep without shelling, to enjoy silence. Their basic needs are undermet and we just want to help them."
