Belarus sends humanitarian assistance to Ukraine

MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – Belarus has sent humanitarian aid to Ukraine, BelTA learned from the Emergencies Ministry.

The Emergencies Ministry workers are escorting the cargo. In Belarus they are also accompanied by the officers of the interior bodies. The convoy is expected to arrive at the border soon.

As it was reported, the Emergencies Ministry, the Industry Ministry, Belgospishcheprom food industry concern, Grodno and Vitebsk regional executive committees have been instructed to provide provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine to the total amount of Br160,000. The list of goods to be provided as humanitarian assistance to Ukraine includes canned meat, canola oil, sugar, yeast, buckwheat, wheat flour, pasta, school furniture, filing cabinets and refrigerators.

The Emergencies Ministry has been instructed to execute, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delivery of humanitarian aid by road to Ukraine, and to arrange the transfer of the humanitarian aid for distribution among the people in need. The State Customs Committee and the State Border Committee have been tasked with ensuring, as a matter of priority, customs control and border control of the humanitarian assistance at crossing points on the state border of Belarus. The Finance Ministry has been instructed to reimburse, from the funds earmarked in the budget for the financing of the expenses associated with natural disasters, accidents and catastrophes, the cost of the material assets provided for humanitarian assistance and also the transportation and other costs associated with the delivery of the humanitarian aid.
