MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) – Belarus’ humanitarian aid has been delivered to Syria, BelTA learned from the ONT TV channel.

The humanitarian aid of more than 50 tonnes was compiled with the focus on Syria’s needs. The cargo comprises the most necessary things, including compressor systems, diesel-generator sets, instruments to deal with rubble and debris, and also school supplies, desks, children’s clothes and footwear.

The shipment left Belarus in late 2018 and arrived in Latakia port on 12 March. The humanitarian aid will be sent to Damascus. Belarus’ Deputy Emergencies Minister Igor Bolotov expressed hope that the aid would help Syrian people to feel more protected.

This is the fourth humanitarian batch Belarus has sent to Syria following the instruction of the head of state. Since 1999 Belarus has provided more than 60 batches of humanitarian aid to those in need.
