VCIOM: Exit poll in Belarus in compliance with rules

MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – The exit poll was conducted well, in compliance with the rules, Director General of the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) Velry Fyodorov said in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has  learned.

“This is the first time I monitored the exit poll in Belarus. It was interesting to see how the unprofessional service would fare. The volume of work was big: 320 polling stations, over 12,000 people. I was at polling stations in Minsk, Dzerzhinsk and Nesvizh. I saw three people everywhere as it should be. They strictly followed the rules despite the hot weather, rain and the pandemic. In my opinion, that was a difficult survey operation and the guys did a good job. In terms of methodology everything was done adequately and efficiently,” Valery Fyodorv noted.

For his part, Chairman of the Belarusian Committee of Youth Associations Pavel Alekso added that the poll went in a routine mode but for a few incidents. “in Mozyr there was an attempt to snatch a bag with questionnaire lists. In Grodno Oblast some attempted to pose as policemen and demanded to leave a poling station. Fortunately, things were sorted out, and none of the poll was declared invalid,” he said.
