MINSK, 17 July (BelTA) - The National Assembly of Belarus has sent invitations to the inter-parliamentary organizations to observe the presidential election in Belarus, Chairman of the International Affairs and National Security Commission of the Council of the Republic Sergei Rachkov told BelTA.
Invitations from the National Assembly were sent to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State, the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
According to Sergei Rachkov, Belarus is interested in holding the elections with the participation of an expert community and is always ready to welcome international observers, inclining missions of the inter-parliamentary organizations.
As BelTA reported earlier, the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus scheduled the presidential election for 9 August. Early voting will take place on 4-8 August. The Central Election Commission is to sum up results of the election on 19 August at the latest. If the second round of the election is necessary, it will take place within two weeks of the first one, that is on 23 August.
