MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – The presidential election has been declared valid in Gomel Oblast, as the turnout there made up 54.44%, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina told the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
Mogilev Oblast also approached the 50% mark: 49.92% of voters cast a ballot during the five-day early voting opportunity.
The turnout in Brest Oblast was 38.4%. In Vitebsk Oblast 39.34% of eligible voters cast their ballot before election day. In Vitebsk Oblast the figure was 39.34%. In Grodno Oblast 38.6% of voters voted early. In Minsk Oblast 39.66% of voters cast an early ballot. In Minsk the figure was 33.4%.
The turnout made up 41.7%.
Early voting was held on 4-8 August. 9 August is the main voting day at Belarus' presidential election.
