MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – The early voting turnout at the presidential election in Belarus has become a record high this year, Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina told media, BelTA informs.
The turnout reached almost 36%.
“As for early voting, the biggest figures in the history of elections in Belarus have been registered this year,” the CEC head said. In 2006 a total of 31% of early votes were cast at the presidential election in 2006. 26 percent of voters cast their early votes at the parliamentary elections in 2008. A total of 23 percent of early votes were cast at the 2010 presidential election, 26% - at the 2012 parliamentary elections and 32% - at the 2014 local elections.
The first figures of the 11 October turnout will be available later, Lidia Yermoshina said.
Over 6,000 polling stations within the country and 49 polling sites outside its borders are working on the main voting day, 11 October.
