MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – International observers should not be used to exert pressure on the states pursuing independent policy, Lidia Yermoshina, the chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, said when speaking at the OSCE conference in Vienna, BelTA learned from Belarus’ permanent delegation in the OSCE.
"The institute of international election observers should not be used to pressurize the states pursuing independent policy, providing the obligations to maintain peace and security are observed. When assessing the election, observers should take into account national legislation,” the permanent delegation quoted Lidia Yermoshina as saying.
As was reported, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina is attending the election legislation discussions at the OSCE conference in Vienna. The OSCE believes that the participation of Belarusian representatives is necessary for the adequate discussion of the issues related to the election process.
Lidia Yermoshina is expected to return to Minsk from Vienna on 21 July.
